Lake of Bays Sailing Club (LBSC) Capital Campaign

Endless Summer: 600 by 60!

The official launch of the Lake of Bays Sailing Club’s capital campaign was held at Cheers to Summer on July 2nd. In recognition of the significant capital improvements that are badly needed at the Club, the LBSC Board of Directors has launched an ambitious capital campaign – “Endless Summer: 600 by 60.” The Endless Summer Campaign – $600,000 by the 60th anniversary (2024) – will help ensure the Club remains an enduring fixture on Lake of Bays, providing a vibrant sailing and social environment for years to come.

The capital campaign will fund essential projects such as a full dock replacement, interior renovation of the clubhouse, including lighting, ventilation, interior cladding and washroom upgrades, construction of an outdoor teaching facility with stadium seating and an extensive fleet rejuvenation.

Now more than ever, the Club needs the support of the Lake of Bays community to preserve and improve this beloved Lake of Bays institution. The Lake of Bays Sailing Club helps set Lake of Bays apart from the rest of Muskoka by fostering a welcoming environment of inclusiveness, facilitating life-long friendships, promoting sportsmanship and instilling respect for the lake and our environment; all qualities that epitomize the Lake of Bays community at large.

Donations are now tax-deductible!

The LBSC Capital Campaign has been able to secure charitable status through its affiliation with SailCanada! This timing allows donors to convert their pledges into actual donations in 2022 and receive tax receipts from SailCanada.

The funds will be deposited into SailCanada’s trust account, and will be transferred to LBSC for the projects approved in the Capital Campaign.

The funds have an immediate use as we have made plans to acquire 5 new 420s and 1 RS Zest sailboats!

Below is the link to the donation section of the SailCanada website, including the drop down menu to direct the donation to our campaign.

Please note that it is VITAL that donors select “LBSC Capital Campaign” from the drop down menu to ensure the funds are directed to us.

Sail Canada is a Canadian Registered Amateur Athletic Association with charitable status; 122863087RR0001

If you prefer to donate via cheque: please fill out the SailCanada donation form and mail it with your cheque to SailCanada at the address on the form. Please make sure that you include “LBSC Capital Campaign” as the “name of specific program” on the form.

We continue to explore the possibility of arranging donations of securities in lieu of cash, however, it is unlikely to be formalized in 2022. If this is you preferred method of payment please let Greg Speirs know and we will address this individually.

On behalf of the LBSC Capital Campaign, we are grateful for your ongoing financial support of the club. As you know, maintaining our fleet, dock and clubhouse requires significant funding that goes beyond what we can generate in program fees. Your support is vital.
